Abu Samad Shaikh
Today, one can hear Abu saying ‘share share’ ‘Nevermind’. When a child is squabbling for something. We can also hear him imitating the teacher saying ‘Don’t fight, take any chair’, Time to stop and reciting a poem. This is a very different Abu from the child who was admitted in September 2018. He was repeating one or a few words without any comprehension. His speech was unintelligible. Since he was from a non-English speaking background, spoken English was completely unfamiliar to him. In fact, he did not get the opportunity to hear any spoken language.
In a short period, Abu has made good progress. He is able to follow the language of the conversation. He is able to express himself and also is very keen to learn more and is now quick to grasp the concept. He does participate in the conversation, asks questions like ‘what happened?’, ‘Why are you late?’ He is also able to give his news and express his thoughts. Earlier, he could not recall, today he can also recall and apply the language taught in class. It is not only in studies that Abu has progressed, his behavior has also improved. He is a very lively, intelligent, and amiable child who has now learned to be sociable, helpful in a pleasing manner. He has the qualities of a natural leader so he sets a good example for other children. He is always ready to apologize, ready to obey, and has never had a single tantrum in class. He is obedient and always smiling.
The biggest change in Abu is that now he is very talkative and has to be told to be quiet and await his turn.
